Hazbin Hotel's Showrunner Is Aware of Fans' Season 2 Predictions — With Some Positive Updates
The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
